I wanted to share my experience with a new set of ancestors that have come forth. And because intuitively I feel it within my soul that those battling oppression are reaching out to the other side for assistance more than anything during these times.
Firstly, you must state your intention for this connection before they can intervene. This is something I cannot stress enough. The authentic ancestors you are requesting contact with should not be the ones oppressing you, so don’t expect them to force themselves into your life without permission. This has come up in quite a few readings for others: Ancestors wanting to assist you with your tribulations but are unable to because you are not opening your mouth. Not speaking up is also another aspect of oppression – The willpower to establish important relationships has been beaten out of many of us for generations. So you must start making a conscious effort to repair these connections, as the Ancestors are not external beings outside of your perception, but in fact, they are within your DNA.
Here is an incantation I used to invite mine in after setting up my altar: “I now call on the benevolent and righteous spirits within my lineage, every man and woman who birthed the men and women, who now live through me. I invite you into my home and my life. This altar is where we will meet, and where I will offer my deep gratitude for the sacrifices you’ve made, and the work you continue to do on my behalf. I offer you (name the items you’ve offered in the form of food, scents, items, etc.) with honor, love, and thanks.” Note: Make sure those offerings are backed up with meaningful intentions, and if you know which ancestors you are working with, give them something that you know that they would like!
I also added in my incantation there that if they wanted anything, to let me know. Especially because we are a displaced people – likely, we don’t know who our ancestors were, or what they liked. The next day, I did receive a connection from an entire tribe of ancestors that died out due to starvation.
They said, “You said to let you know what we want. Well, this is what we want.” And then they showed me a specific snack in my pantry. It was an old bag of chocolate donuts that I never planned on eating, and it surprised me that they would even want it. The energy I felt about the snack was similar to the intense craving you get for food, especially if you are fasting or very hungry. The fact that these ancestors suffered from starvation, made me appreciate the access I have to food today, and immediately I set it on my altar for them to consume.
These are the types of lessons you learn when working with your ancestors. They are beings from the same line as you, that paved a unique pathway. You will grow in wisdom and lessons with them. Make sure you set the intention to allow them in your life, so you can watch the magic occur from the other side. And be thankful that you are even able to have an altar or develop this practice, as many who were caught strengthening this birthright of a connection were unfortunately killed.
I am thankful and I want others to be able to tap into the parts of our history that were more than likely hidden, altered, or erased.
